Hugh Fletcher
About
Hello! I’m Hugh Fletcher, a web developer and self-proclaimed geek living in Newbern Tennessee. In 2001 I started my trek to nerdville when I began learning to build websites(anyone remember GeoCities?) in my spare time. Back then I was working in the wonderful field of retail management, I would read books at lunch and then hack away at night.
Nowadays I work mostly from my home for a company located about an hour away in Jackson Tennessee. They call me a ‘coder’ (I think it’s my actual title), that’s basically because most of them have no idea what I do. They just ask me to make a website that does this or want our application to do that, and I go off and do it. When I’m not on the clock for them, freelance and personal projects is what fills the time.
PHP is my thing and what I’ve been at the longest. In fact, I think I learned the bulk of my HTML after PHP. Anyway, if it’s PHP, I’ve probably messed with it. CodeIgniter, ExpressionEngine, and Wordpress are my forte. Oh and I love me some Javascript. And if you tack on Jquery I can roll. Besides the standard HTML and CSS, I’ve worked heavily with the Adobe Air as well. Tinkered with Flash, ASP, and Visual Basic too.
My current endeavor is mastery of things like HTML5, CSS3, browser storage, the canvas tag (bye bye Flash), and in general mobile web applications/development. You know that’s the future right? At some point I’d like to learn some Java and hop on this Android App bandwagon(cuz that wagon is a comin’).
You can view my alter egos below respectively…grouchy smurf, dopey smurf, and stinky smurf.
I’m available for all types of projects. Feel free to email me at if you would like to talk about a possible job, or just grab some grub and talk.
Thanks for stopping by!
